The Spyderco Native5 is an evolution of refinements in knife making with a bold G-10 handle and nitrogen-hardened CPM-S35VN blade. The Spyderco Native5 is the first production folder from Spyderco made with Crucible Inc. powdered technology CPM-S35VN steel. CPM-S35VN steel offers improved toughness and resistance against chipping. This steel is also easier to machine and polish over other steels. Flat-ground, the blade is plain edged. The Spyderco C41GP5 Native5's black G-10 handle harbors dual skeletonized liners, a full length spine back spacer adding balance and weight, and back-lock with a David Boye Dent. The back-lock on this Spyderco pocket knife embodies the steps of evolution in traditional back-locks. Back-locks were first introduced to the knife industry decades ago, transforming into more sophisticated, safer locks through improved manufacturing techniques. Today's American made back-locks offer improved self-close, smooth action, solid lock-up and ease in push-release opening for a higher caliber of knife buyer in today's market. Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System on the Native5 generates fluid action and consistent manufacturing tolerances. A four-way transport-friendly hourglass pocket clip adjusts to carry tip-up/tip-down and left or right-handed with a lanyard hole incorporated through the center of the clip where it attaches to the handle. The Spyderco folder is fabricated with screw-together construction using larger sized torque screws, easier to adjust and tighten. The Native5 represents the maturation of American knife making capabilities in making everything sharper, smoother and guaranteed to provide performance and overall user comfort.
